Many visitors from out of town are interested in the architecture and woodwork, as well as the variety of stained and leaded glass windows and doors of our funeral home.
James and Mary Moore built the home in the late 19th century. In the early 1900's Edward P. and Elizabeth Moore purchased the property. Edward was a son of Milton Moore, owner of the Moore mansion and founder of The Bank of Mitchell in 1882. The home was elegantly remodeled and furniture purchased in New York City made this one of the finest homes in the community.
Mr. Moore and his wife were leaders in the Mitchell Society, civic projects, and the Presbyterian Church. He served as president of The Bank of Mitchell from 1904 until his death in 1924.
In 1939 Harry W. and Carrie Clements purchased this home and some of the furnishings. The house became a funeral home, which was later purchased by Kenneth and Lorena Chastain.
